Workplace Partners
You and your workplace CAN make a difference for LIFE – by joining Golden State Donor Services in the Workplace Partnership for Life - a nationwide network of employers dedicated to saving lives by raising awareness of the critical need for potential organ, tissue, marrow and blood donors.
Simply sign up your company/agency in the Workplace Partnership for Life - a new national Gift of Life Donation Initiative created by former Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson. The initiative is designed to get corporate America involved helping communities and individuals by raising awareness of the life-saving possibilities opened up by organ donation and transplantation. It’s about giving life. It costs you nothing to join the national effort and yet your involvement will save lives.
Right now, more than 100,000 people in the United States wait for a life-saving organ transplant (more than 21,000 of them reside here in California). The sad fact is one third will die waiting because of the critical shortage of donors. But, you and your workplace can make a difference by raising awareness of the fact that each individual donor can save up to 8 lives through organ donation and enhance another 50 lives through tissue donation.
The workplace is a great environment in which to create awareness of the need for donation. With employers and employees working together, we can literally save thousands of lives. We invite major corporations and unions as well as smaller businesses, associations, government agencies, schools and volunteer organizations to join the campaign. Everyone can contribute to creating a donation friendly workplace. Through the Workplace Partnership for Life, we can all make a difference. We can register to become donors. We can encourage others to sign up to give life on the Donate Life California Organ and Tissue Donor Registry online or sign up en Español; or through the DMV when applying for or renewing their drivers license. We can make it clear that if something happens to us, we have already made the decision to help someone else live - to give the gift of life.
Please join us. A sign up form is available. Just complete and return it. Also, review the "Action Ideas", which describe possible ways you can educate your workforce about donation. Using these ideas or your own, please let us know how your organization will promote donation - and let us assist you.
Thank you very much for your participation. Working together we really can make a difference for life.
